Mr. Atkins currently heads Legacy Investments for Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s (BAML) Global Principal Investments (GPI) business. Legacy Investments manages a variety of private equity portfolios including buyout, mezzanine, venture and international assets. Previously Mr. Atkins was a senior member of BAML’s Equity Risk Management group, with approval responsibility for buyout, venture, funds and strategic equity investments. He joined BAML’s principal investing activity in 1998 in an investing partnership deploying equity and mezzanine capital in U.S. companies. Over the past ten years, private equity responsibilities have included investment origination and execution, administration, investment approval, portfolio valuation and valuation and integration of acquired investment portfolios. He joined Continental Bank, a BAML predecessor company, in 1984 and has previously served in roles in client relationship management, leveraged portfolio management, structured finance, syndications and high yield sales. He currently serves on the boards of Ittiam Systems, Ltd. and Value Asset Management and holds observer and advisory seats at several other companies and private equity funds.
Mr. Atkins attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia and later earned an MBA in Finance from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
